Leslie Bone is currently doing her PhD in Molecular Biology at Ryerson University. She is researching how fats, other than the ones you get from your diet, play very important roles in communication within the cell and how they can be involved in cancer progression. As the only one from her family in the sciences, she has always been interested in learning how to explain what she researches to her friends and family. In most recent years there has been a growing public interest in the field of science. However the dissemination of this information sometimes comes at a cost of quality and reliability. The ability of any scientist to communicate their research to the public is a necessary skill. Leslie hopes that by providing a stronger understanding of current research and its relevance to society that it will spark more interest and increase the visibility of science to the public.
